Description
Me notice shiny thing in deep, quiet valley where moss grow thick like fur. It sit on soft, damp dirt near roots of ancient cedar, half-hidden by giant fern leaves. Big feet almost step right on it, but silver sticks catch flash of morning sun breaking through dense green canopy.
Me pick it up with heavy hands. It feel light, like hollow bone, but smell like rich, dark earth after rain. Me look close at round brown face and see tiny tree carved right into bottom, just like trees me walk past every day. Me shake hairy head, wonder how small piece of forest get trapped inside clear, hard stone. It make soft, steady ticking sound—thump-thump, thump-thump—sounding just like steady heartbeat of the woods. Me leave it there on the mossy bed, a small mechanical secret hidden deep in the shadows where humans never walk.
